http://picpaste.com/Capture-AQwsVPS5.PNG what is it the answer?? a b c or d the question is on the picture

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1338597078660:dw| y = mx + b, you need to solve for b so: -6 = -1/7(5) + b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is between b and a not sure wat is it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your just guessing, did you try solving for b? Do you know how? would you like me to teach you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure why not i suck at this subject

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok cool :) so y = mx + b is the standard formula for finding slope or y-intercept. The m is the slope and the b is the y-intercept. The x and y and slope are what you already know (slope = -1/7) (x= 5) (y -6) so all you need to do is replace: y = mx + b (with what you know:) -6 = -1/7(5) + b and solve for b (y-intercept) so the first thing you need to do is times 1/7 * 5 do you know what that is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is 0.7142

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats whatt i got

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i got disconnected, okay we need it as a fraction so think of it as \[\frac{-1}{7} * \frac{5}{1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or \[\frac{-1 * 5}{7 * 1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's -1 times 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right! so the numerator is -5, and 7 * 1 is just 7 right, so now our equation looks like this: -6 = -5/7 + b so now we need to get the b by itself, so should we add it to both sides or subtract it on both sides?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dude can i get just answer plz we doing this question for like so long i have so many of them to finish

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey, i'm just trying to teach you. When i was younger i wished someone had taught me. But, it's up to you. Good luck.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wth lol alright thanks ill copy everything u explain me to learn it
