List three important roles proteins play in interphase of the cell cycle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In interphase a cell will need to take in nutrients before it can enter into cell division All of the preparations will be done in interphase. Now intephase will proceed in three phases G1, S, G2. The G1 phase-During this phase the biosynthic activities of the cell , which will be slowed down by the M phase, it will then result in a higher rate. This phase will result in synthesis of 20 amino acids which will then form into millions of (**proteins**) and later on to enzymes that are going to required for the S phase- mainly need for the DNA replication. The S phase will start DNA synthesis commences, then when it is completed all of the chromosomes have been replicated - the chromosomes will have two (sister) chromatids. Now during this phase, the amount of DNA in the cell will effectively doubled, but the ploidy of the cell will stay all the same. The phase will now result in the synthesis completing as quickly as possible, due to the exposure for the base pairs being sensitive to the external factors, such as any drugs taken or any mutagens (i.e. nicotine.) The G2 Phase-The cell will now enter into the G2 phase, which will lasts until the cell enters into the mitosis. The significance of biosynthesis will happen in this phase and it will mainly involve the production of micro-tubules-these are required for mitosis. It will then inhibit the protein of synthesis during the G2 phase, which will prevent the cell from undergoing into mitosis. Hope that helps! n_n
