I need help solving this equation with the quadratic formula (y^2+5y+4) / (y+4)

OpenStudy (cwtan):

y^2+5y+4 can be factorise as (y+4)(y+1) then cross out y+4 in the fraction left y+1

OpenStudy (precal):

you really are not using the quadratic formula for this, you are really just simplifying it by factoring and cancelling out same terms (items)
