What is the word for one who is benefited? For example, what word can I use instead of lobbyists and corporations in "The wars benefit the politicians and other ______".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And another question, Is it correct to say "The other reason is the difficult situations caused by the corrupt policies"? Is the to-be verb used correctly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For the first one, would "special interest groups" work? For the second one, how about this... Another reason is the difficult situations that are caused by corrupt policies.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks for the first one, Peeps. My problem with the second one is that we need to use situations which is plural. So should we say "The other reasons are difficult situations," or "The other reason is difficult situations"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would say "The other reason is the difficult situations." The reason for this, in my mind, is the many "difficult situations," all grouped into one, is only ONE reason, in this case.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wow. Bad sentence, above. LOL! I hope you get my drift.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Those who are the recipients of the benefits are "beneficiaries". Those who bestow the benefits are "benefactors".

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks Peeps! :) Thanks autumn! That's the word I was looking for! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No worries; I come across these words often - from listing my daughters as my "beneficiaries" on my assets and me being their primary "benefactor"! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! I thought you were looking for a word that was NOT a form of "benefited." LOL! Der! I'm glad you got your answer! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Parsa - Could you send the sentence along with the context in which it is written? That way, I can see the sentence's relationship to its surroundings and which idea in your sentence merits the most emphasis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is the text, Autumn: "...We are living in a world where the mainstream media is used as a tool by the governments to spread misinformation, hatred and well-devised propaganda, so that people would fight the wars and benefit the politicians and other beneficiaries." Is it wrong?
