Which of the following points are solutions to the system of inequalities shown below? y>6x+7 y<6x+9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. (-4, 32) B. (3, 26) C. (3, 25) D. (4, 33)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

theres more than 1 answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's not C as that would make 25>25 and that's false.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand this at all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug them in X and Y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you please explain this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

put the values you have supplied into the each eqn i.e. for the first one y>6x+7 32 > 6(-4)+7 32 > -24 + 7 32 > -17 Thats true now do the same thing for the other eqn and if they are both true thats an answer :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the values are in the format (x,y) so substitute (-4,32) x=-4 y=32 do you see

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Kind of

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answers are B and D 26>6(3)+7 TRUE 26 < 6(3) + 9 TRUE also 33 > 6(4)+7 TRUE 33 < 6(4) +9 TRUE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or 26>25 26<27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Check D for yourself and tell me if its a solution , as I actually think its not!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would I check it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok you were given (4,33) so x=4 y=33 plug them in 33 > 6(4)+7 ; now tell me if that's true or not 33 < 6(4)+9 ; now tell me if that's true or not

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still thinking...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sooooo is 33 > 24+7 ? is 33 < 24+9 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

33>24+7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

means is 33 bigger than 31

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also is 33 less than 33

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so it gets past the first equation what about the second?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this question: 33 < 24+9 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

means is 33 less than 33?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No it is equal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HA! so its false and is not a solution because they both have to be true :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the question become A 32 > -17 TRUE 32<-15 FALSE B 26 > 25 TRUE 26 < 27 TRUE C 25>25 FALSE 25<27 TRUE D 33>31 TRUE 33<33 FALSE The only one with two true statements is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok thanks also are you abloe to help me on two step equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep, post it and I will try to help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to work backwards like this...|dw:1338662886287:dw| and plug in the numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok whats the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have to close this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5.12=n/6.3-11.1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

post the question on the main thread

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the main thread

OpenStudy (anonymous):

soz as a new questiion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a new question... 12=5w-3
