If A={∅}, then n(A)=0 true or false.. is it true?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

How many elements A has?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its an empty set

OpenStudy (ash2326):

Yeah, so what do you think is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it is not an empty set.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true?

OpenStudy (ash2326):

yeah, you're correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In general nototation an empty set is denoted by \(\phi\) or \( \{ \} \)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

From the notation, it looks like, "Set A is the set that contains the empty set." But I might just be being picky.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where as \( \{ \phi \} \) looks like a singleton or the power set of an empty set. \[2^{\varnothing} = \{\varnothing\} \] Hence, the answer is false.
