diameter of the track is 4 mi. Last Tuesday, Laura ran 1/10 of a lap around the track. Approximately what distance did she run? would it be 36 x 4 x pi????

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

where did 36 come from?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The circumference of the track is pi * diameter = 4 * pi You want one tenth of 4 * pi

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

i assume that this is a circle?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

if so what @kropot72 said is your formula

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

one lap = circumference

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(1/10) of the circumference 0.1 * ( 2*pi*2) = approx 1.3 miles (1dp)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 1.26 thx

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

1.26 is right
