good acoustics mean that silence where no extra noise can be heard...it can be achieved using carpets

Start off small. Download Audacity and play around with recording and mixing and matching sound clips. Once you get decent at that you can either download some plugins or purchase some better music software like Garageband. Also, invest into a great microphone and a decent mix board. Once again, start small and purchase a simple multitrack midi recorder.

@Jesusfreak2 Great start! Visit your local Guitar Center or go to their website and review their Recording Equipment section. Browse through their products and the provide a star rating on each product. Find the products that fit your price range and have a great star rating. Personally I enjoy the Professional Portable & Field Recorders, because they are great quality in sound production and can easily moved to different locations. I was in a band when I bought it, so it was great to take it with me to practices and record some sessions to listen to later.
