Which of the following best com[ares the roles of mitosis and meiosis in human reproduction? A. Haploid sperm and egg nuclei fuse through meiosis, while the diploid zygote is formed through mitosis B. Haploid sperm nuclei are formed in the testes by meiosis, while the diploid zygote divides through mitosis C. the diploid nucleus in a zygote is formed by mitosis, while haploid gamete nuclei are formed by meiosis. D. the diploid zygote nucleus divides through mitosis, while haploid gamete nuclei divide through meiosis. ,......I am pretty sure it isnt A. AND i think its D but im not sure.

OpenStudy (matt101):

Answer is B. A is wrong because meiosis and mitosis have nothing to do with the egg and sperm fusing and formation of the zygote (i.e. fertilization). C is wrong for the same reason (mitosis and meiosis /= fusion). D is wrong because although the zygote does divide through mitosis, gametes do not continue to divide once they have been formed as the statement suggests (though they do form initially by meiosis).

i thought so becuz the gamete had already been split
