How would one calculate the speed of a ball being swung in vertical circles, when it is 30 degrees below the horizontal? (mass, speed at top of swing, radius of string, height of the centre of the circle are given)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ugh... no hope. haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

conservation of energy potential energy + kinetic energy is constant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

speed at top of swing + mg(2R) = speed at the point(unknown) + mg (R sin30)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u'll get the answer with that

thank you thank you!

welcome :)
