Well, my thinking regarding social share buttons like this suggestion (like for a reply) is that as long as it only occurs by choice, we have no problem enabling you to do that. Where we draw the line is the kind of 'passive' sharing you often see on Facebook nowadays - for example, "cshalvey was reading this article on Washington Post Reader."

So, if you guys want it, by all means we'll look into it - thanks for the suggestion! Keep 'em coming!

I agree that passive sharing is horrible, and I'm quite relieved to hear that you don't plan on implementing it =D

lgbasallote, let us face it, OS is already like facebook! If you doubt it, just check the bar above your screen and the chat boxes below. ;)

No, it's not about sharing. The point is that the like button would help people on discussions. You can give only one medal and the medal would be given to every comment of the person who got it; but to give more credit to a specific comment and to make it more noticeable, a like button would be more useful.
