I'm having a problem with getting the color coded text on IDLE. The color coding works fine when I start in a new window, but once I save, run the code and then go back to edit, the color coding disappears.

thats the way i think.......try  reinstalling python again it should remove that problem ......... even it didnt  rectify then there is no problem at all .... lol dude whats the point of colors when the actual program is working fine

Hello friend, try to save the file with the extension .py     This happens to you becouse you're working with text files, not with python files.

There is a little issue to that try to disable your antivirus then uninstall the python, clean the cache or rather delete the complete information from your system through the hard disk then restart your computer and then try re- instal it again this should work, if the problem persist maybe i can help you with online remote control and then help you fix the problem.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the problem still exists. I also made sure I am saving in .py format, and the problem is still there. Any more suggestions on what to do? I am a beginner, and I feel that the color coding is helpful to me.

Nevermind. It was as albertitobr said. I assumed I was saving as .py since that's what I selected from the drop down menu, but I typed in ".py" at the end of my title and everything worked out fine. Thanks for all of your inputs.
