what is the difference between pure compound and impure compound ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pure compound is "pure" and impure contains admixtures...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

pure compound has defined composition while impure doesnt

OpenStudy (anonymous):

example of admixtures ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

any chemical, take a bottle from lab and you will see its compostition and its not 100% pure, it contains all sorts of admixtures

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about the pure compound ? can u give me some examples ?

OpenStudy (btaylor):

A pure compound is something like distilled water. Any compound with uniform composition (as in, all the molecules are the same). An impure compound would be water with some minerals/ions in it. Does this make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just a note... a mixture can be pure as well... most chemicals in labs a considered.pure since we know its composition... most compounds in housholds are impure...
