how fast does a virus evolve?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Viruses can evolve very fast and they have their ways of adapting to their host species very quickly. Viruses are very similar to bacteria, when it comes to the small change of genetic material, that it takes to mutate them considerably. Viruses are nonliving. They have no organelles of their own. In order for them to invade, they must hijack its biochemistry, so that the virus itself, can multiple their copies of their DNA and RNA considerably. Hope that helps! n_n
