Simplify each expression: 5-6m+4 (show steps please)

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

hint: 5 and 4 are common terms

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

and you ALWAYS combine like terms

When your simplifying expressions, do you remember the rules? Like you can only add or subtract "like" terms, this rule is applicable to your question 5 - 6m + 4 Ok so the only part of this equation with a m in it is the 6!, the 5 and the 4 do not have any m's, so by the rule, you can not add or subtract any of these numbers to 6 but you can simplify 5 + 4 So go ahead and add 5+4 - 6m Which simplify s down to 9 - 6m
