in real life .....where do we find use of differentiation...... answer simplyyyyy!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All over the place. Really, really common. Physics, finance, engineering, many many other applications.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

to find the rate of change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just to find the rate of change!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

just!! mam its a big thing!!

Parth (parthkohli):

It's more about the instantaneous rate of change.

Parth (parthkohli):

Khan has given a great example on one of the videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EKvHQc3QEow

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah... rate of change is a big thing...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Optimisation. Physics. Related rates- Economics and many other fields.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

physics- v(t), s(t), a(t) remember these?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like.. don't you want to know how fast your boat is sinking before you can start blowing up you raft? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't you want to know the cost off adding one more passenger to your airline?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@beeqay @dpaInc once show how????

OpenStudy (anonymous):

see... it depends if you have a small boat... in which case you don't have much time to start inflating your life raft. on the other hand, if your life raft is just some inner tube, you prolly won't need much time inflating it...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

much less do a calculus question to answer how much time u got... :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Company data suggests that the total dollar cost of a certain flight is approximately \[c(x)= 0.0005x^3 - 0.38x^2 + 120x\] Where x = no. of passengers. Estimate the marginal cost of an additional passenger if the flight already has 150 passengers Then Compare this value with the cost of one additional passenger.
