OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you so very much first what grades can u help?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

well i am half way through a university degree in physics (which includes lots of maths), what topics do you need help with

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm well im really bad at fractions and a bit of tables :/ which is really bad but pretty good at decimals:)

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

hmm i think ill be able to help you for sure, do you have a specific question to work through?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, well how do u simplify fractions and decimals?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

for example\[\frac {15}{5}=\frac{5\times3}{5}=\frac{\cancel5\times3}{\cancel5}=\frac{3}{1}=3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm it is a bit hard to understand sorry its not ur fault im not that smart!!!

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

if a number is a percent it can be written as a fraction with denominator 100\[52\%=\frac{52}{100}\] this can be simplified further \[\frac{52}{100}=\frac{4\times13}{4\times25}=\frac{\cancel4\times13}{\cancel4\times25}=\frac{13}{25}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sort of

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

you can cancel any factor that appears int he numerator (the top of the fraction) And the denominator(the bottom of the fraction) \[\frac{a\times b}{a\times c}=\frac bc\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

maybe this web site can be of use to you http://www.visualfractions.com/investigate.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you very much how can i talk to u again?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

there is a little blue envelope at the top left of the page, for sending shot messages, but there are lots of people on OpenStudy how are very helpful, Generally users will ask specific questions and will get a variety of responses from different users trying to help good luck

OpenStudy (anonymous):
