Please Help!!! SO confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part 1: Solve each of the quadratic equations below. Show your work.\ x^2 - 16 = 0 and x^2 = -2x + 24 Part 2: Describe what the solution(s) represent to the graph of each. Part 3: How are the graphs alike? How are they different?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to turn this in in like 30 minutes and I am so confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are you confused about?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am not sure what the steps are to solve them and then on the third part i know the difference but i cant find any similarities

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The first equation is simply a difference of squares. Use the formula: \(a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b).\) The second equation, get everything on one side first so that you have \(x^2+2x-24=0\). Then find two binomials that expand to that quadratic. You're looking for two numbers that multiply to -24 and sum to 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are the equations in standard form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

{x^2 = 16, x (x+2) = 24}
