why various formats for images???????(viz..,,.jpg.)
Each format have different variations ex: for logos we can use format .png format .Images we can use .jpg format,In frameworks we can use .gif format
i want something more!!!@bharath508
.jpg is used for high quality .gif is used for low space .png is used for transparent images each format have each strategy .bmp images also there for high resolution they can use it
In addition to what bharath508 said, .jpg - typically compressed and useful for photographs (high-quality and low-size) .gif - low size, transparency, and animation (but often poor quality); useful for low-quality animations .png - often compressed; transparency and also useful for embedding metadata for future editing (e.g. Adobe Fireworks); useful in web graphics (e.g. buttons, tiled backgrounds, etc.) .bmp and .tiff - not useful on the web, but sometimes used for lossless saving .svg and .ai - vector graphics for high-quality, scalable vector art work; useful for symbols and graphics (e.g. text, map outlines, flow charts, etc.); not supported by all browsers
This is very simple answer, each format has a unique application it is ideally suited for.
Each and every image format uses different kind of compression techniques in order to provide images of different quality .
