Pretend someone is up at the board getting ready to plot the point (3,-5) on a coordinate plane. This person has no understanding of the coordinate plane. From your desk how would you describe to this person what to do?

You can tell the person about the x and y cordinates. and then tell the person about the ordered pair (x,y) in this case 3 represents x and -5 represents y and so on.
