Ok this is something I always got confused on. When telling the coordinates of a point. Which number goes in front?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so here is an easy way to remember that it is (x,y) the x-coordinate plane goes across horizontal like the gound or floor. The y-coordinate plane goes vertical, up and down. So, just think that you have to go across the playground then up the monkey bars. Or, if that does not work, an airplane has to drive across the runway before it can go into the air. Hope this helps!! :)

another way is it is always (x,y) --> 'x' comes before 'y' alphabetically or even (horizontal, vertical) = (h, v) --> 'h' comes before 'v' alphabetically

Oh ok, I never thought of thinking of it that way. Thanks for the help!

yw :)
