Nine people are entered in a race. If there are no ties, in how many ways can the first three places come out?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

There are 9 choices for first place 8 for second and 7 for third So there are 9*8*7 = 504 different ways to place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
