Am I missing a lot if I do not have the robot? Exactly how much of the class will I miss?

I don't think we will miss a lot, though I'm a newcomer to the course.
MIT certainly knows that a few, if any, learners of 6.01 on ocw would have the robots, but it nevertheless made 6.01 into a OCW Scholar. So, MIT must believe that this course is still of great value without robots. And I believe MIT.

BTW, Design labs and interviews takes up only 20% for MIT students's grades.But I do think the robot will make the course much more attractive.

if you are studying Introduction to Electrical Engineering and Computer Science I and are taking 6.01SC, you will miss Design Lab 3.

You can use the simulator as for the robot as for the circuits.  You don't need the robot to follow the course.
