Deterimine if the following equaiton is a horizontal or vertical line: y = 3 @kymber

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could someone explain this to me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try making a table for this: |dw:1338992072964:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What will the y-value be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would, if I understood the chart. But I don't. :/

OpenStudy (kymber):

Plot three on the y-axis.. You don't need to make a chart! :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, okay. I just chose some random x-values. Every x-value will be paired with a y-value depending on what the equation is. So, in this case, the y-value will always be 3 because your equation is y=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you will end up with the points (-1, 3), (0, 3), and (1, 3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try plotting those points and see what kind of line you get.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it's horizontal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (kymber):

Yupp! if it's y = one number, then it's horizontal and if it's x = one number, then it's vertical.
