-4x (-7x3 + 4x2 + 8x – 6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve the bracket first

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4x(-21+8+8x-6) -4x(-19+8x) 76x-32x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry I copy and pasted...its not 7 times 3 its 7x raised to the third power. same with 4 squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it should read -4x (7x^3 + 4x^2 +8x -6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do u have to do with the equa? just solve?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but I dont know if -4x times 7x^3 would be 21x^4 and so on. what do i do with the exponents?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 times 7 is 28 not 21...that was my bad

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its gona look like -28x^4-16x^3-32x^2+24x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok cool so when multiplying, you add the exponents?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they multiply as well, take a look at this.. http://www.purplemath.com/modules/exponent.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much! :)
