When you know the mean of several numbers, you may assume that all the values are equal to the mean (for the purpose of getting the sums). In your problem, we have two values averaging 92, which means that the sum of those two values (whatever the individual numbers happen to be) is 184. In the second batch, you have 4 values with a mean of 86. Their sum has to be 86*4 = 344. Overall, you have (184 + 344)/6 = 88
