When the point (–4, 8) is dilated with the center of dilation at the origin, the image of the point is (–18, 36). What is the scale factor of this dilation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 36/8 or -18/-4 and we will get our dilation factor of 4.5. We know this is correct as we can test it by using the figure -4 x 4.5 = -18 so it works.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or 8 x 4.5 = 36.
