The length of one leg of a right triangle is 24 ft, and the length of the hypotenuse is 40 ft. What is the length of the other leg?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

use pythagorean theorem \[a = \sqrt{c^2 - b^2}\] where c is the hypotenuse and b is one leg \[a = \sqrt{40^2 - 24^2}\] got it??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah that does make more sence to me now! thanks for the help!
