Compare and contrast the two quadratic equations below. In order to receive full credit, use complete sentences to describe the following: The direction each parabola opens The vertex of each parabola y = x^2 − 2x y = −2x^2 + 4x − 3 Just view it with me and tell me if I'm right.

I don't know how to get the vertex, but I can kinda get the dir. of each parab.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

On the first one it opens upward and the second one it opens downward.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do I get the vertex of these 2. Could someone please explain...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

still there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you get the x coordinate of the vertex from -b/(2a) where a and b are the coefficients of the x^2 and x terms, respectively. to get the y coordinate, just use that x value you found back into the the equation.
