Line L passes through the points (-2,0) and (0,a). Line LL passes through the points' (4,0) and (6,2). What value of "a" makes the two lines parallel?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm sorry, but how is it you have -2, a-0 on your solution ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the value of a must be 2 not -2.. if it is -2, they will meet at one point..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm also wondering why is it -2, cause when you subtract (0,a) - (-2,0) .. it will be positive 2, a-0... hehe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my mistake :0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha.. its ok. by the way, where did you get -1 in equation 2, 2 = -1(-2, a-0) hehe .. sorry for many questions, i just don't get it quickly. tnx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then 2 must be the value of a... do i deserve a medal? heheheh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks much

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha .. of course!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe I should go around asking for medals too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok. thanks by the way :)
