Find the largest two-digit number, which divides 378 and 542 , leaving the same remainder in each case?
try to solve it by taking out common multiple or common factos.
try to solve it by taking out common multiple or common factors.
Not getting by that way......
it's 542 - 378
ohk 2 digit.....
use a factor tree and look for common factors that way... 3 is a factor of 378 but not 542... so that excludes 6 from being a common factor
it shud be 82
@A.Avinash_Goutham u r correct but how?
@campbell_st the answer should be 82 lol!
the difference of numbers.....that shud give u the same remainder........
@A.Avinash_Goutham can u show it plzz
show?!
yeah you know...show the trials and error lol
The step to do this
well if it's trail and error....ask sm1 jobless like @lgbasallote
Okay. So let the remainder left be 'x'. That means of the no. is 'n', it divides 378-x, and 542-x completely. also, 542-x - (378-x)= 164 should be divisible by the no. so, that no. can either be, 41, or 82, since these are the only two-digit factors of 164. Now.
@apoorvk so the question abt largest two digit
so it is 82 thxx @apoorvk
Now, comes the hit and trial thingy. check out which one out of 41 and 82 leaves common remainders. Pick the larger no., if both do. Thou get 82, and that is the answer.
