hypothetical question...is it possible for someone to get suspended/warned/ip banned while he/she is offline?
I don't think so. We had a troll in music group the other night and the mod online at the time said that they were about to be banned and the user was like "not if I log off first".
This is not a hypothetical answer: 'Yes'.
FoolForMath is correct, we can ban, suspend, warn, and ipban users while they are offline. Logging off cannot protect you from the wrath of the moderator you have angered. There was a bug for awhile that allowed people to evade suspensions if they were clever about how they left the site, but we've since fixed that issue.
uh-oh...so...we'll just get notified via email? i mean how will we know if we got suspended/ipbanned/warned while offline?
You'll get an email. If you're suspended when you try to log in you'll get a message indicating you can't log in with information about the remaining duration of the suspension and why you were suspended. (Unless you're a troll in which case your reason message will likely be something snarky like "bye now"... about the time we're banning the fifth account we typically get tired writing out formal message. haha.)
i just have to wonder if im a troll -__- i do have like a dozen accounts lol =))))
