Please someone help me with his question : A container is to be filled with water which flows into it at a constant rate. It takes 12 minutes to fill the container. Find the time taken for the water to reach a depth of 20 cm. -Picture of the container in the comments.
this question uses ratios the ratio of vertical height is 20:40 or 1:2 for volumes the linear ratios are cubed the ratio of volumes for 20cm to 40 cm is 1:8 the volume of the whole pyramid is V = 48000 cm^3 the volume of the 20 depth is 1/8 the volume of the large pyramid V = 48000/8 = 6000 cm^3 so 12/48000 = x/6000 x = (12* 6000)/48000 it will take 1.5 minutes to fill to a depth of 20 cm
looks more like a prism
Yes. It's not a pyramid. It's a prism. O_o
ok if its a prism the V = 72000 cm^3 V of the smaller prism is 9000cm^3 then 12/72000 = x /9000 x = (12 * 9000)/72000 x = 1.5 minutes... just the same
oops thats assuming a square base
if its a prism we can consider it as a triangle: |dw:1339066007297:dw| A = 1200 a = 300
