\[(4x+3)(3x-2)=25\] solve for \(x\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know but how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need reasoning?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they really really reach for these word problems don't they?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

reasoning? reason is that some moron tried really really hard to make up a "word problem" in a situation that does not call for one. very artificial. but if you look closely at the words, you see \(4x+3\) "times" as often so that is a clue to multiply.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as for solving , it is kind of ugly multiply out and get \[12x^2+x-31=0\] then use the quadratic formula or cheat http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=%284x%2B3%29%283x-2%29%3D25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hahahah...THANKS ALOT BRO!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw. whoever wrote this problem should have their math license taken away

OpenStudy (anonymous):

25=5.5=25.1=1.25=-1.-25=-25.-1=-5.-5
