In my opinion, the Pacific Rim countries will become overly dependent on the US or other western nations, and we (being the more developed world) will start overbearing cultural influence. Now, that might be a good thing, but to me it is horrible. 
Another thing would be that their economies would be linked with developed nations. This will result in outsourcing industries, which is bad for both our economy and theirs, since most of the population will be forced into low paying labor jobs.
