Try going to Purdue-OWL website. It explains the essay format there. If you have Microsoft word you have the option of using APA format there. Be sure to use in-text citations! If you really need step by step help formatting your paper, I attached the guide that I use. It tells you what to apply step by step, and how to add in your citations. To start your essay you need to create your thesis. Research what topics you plan on comparing in your essay (financial aid, time management, employment etc...). Once you have your thesis statement, you need to start with an introductory paragraph that will incorporate your thesis. Your thesis needs to be either at the beginning of your introductory or at the end. From there you start your paragraphs on comparing and contrasting following along with your thesis. Finally create a conclusion that kinda goes over your introductory paragraph again. If your writing this paper for an online school, most schools offer an in-house tutoring program where you can submit your essays in for review. I highly suggest you utilize this tool.
