Explain how heat is transferred between a hot and a cold object by conduction.

hmm, i'm not a physicist but i can tell you that atoms in the hot area gain heat energy and vibrate more, so they have more kinetic energy. These kinetic energy then transfer to the atoms in the cold area . Atoms in the cold area gain these extra energy and start vibrating, releasing energy as heat. I hope this helps. Correct me if i'm wrong.
