What is the Symbiotic Theory?
The symbiotic theory is the idea that complex eukaryotes evolved from simple prokaryotes. They say it all began with prokaryotes eating other prokaryotes, and the 'food' prokaryotes did not die inside of the 'eater' prokaryotes, but evolved into organelles, such as mitochondria, the nucleus, the ER, etc., which creted the organelle-containing eukaryotic cell. Hope this helped you! :)
this is supported by the fact that mitochondria have their own, separate set of DNA
@ HELLO2 That is true, mitochondria contain their own DNA (circular) and have a double membrane. :)
Mitochondrium was originally a procaryotic cell which lived in symbios with a eukaryotic cell untill it got enveloped by the eukaryotic celll. *Mitochrondium has their own DNA (mtDNA) *Mitochondrium has the machinary to manufacture it's own proteins. *Approximately the same size as a procaryotic cell *Replicates as a procaryotic cell. mtDNA is inherited soley from the eggcell.
