I need a little help here! :/ Fill in the blanks with the present tense form of saber or conocer. Ana ______ hablar español y francés. Ustedes no _______ a mi amigo Daniel. Tú jugar al tenis como un profesional. Nosotros ______ el castillo del rey (King) Juan. Los estudiantes _______ dónde está la biblioteca.

OpenStudy (turingtest):

saber ---- yo sé tú sabes el/ella/ud. sabe ellos/ellas/uds saben nosotros/as sabemos saber is "to know" as in a fact, or any "how to do" some activity ex: tú sabes las reglas=you know the rules

OpenStudy (turingtest):

conocer ---- yo conozco tú conoces el/ella/ud. conoce ellos/ellas/uds conocen nosotros/as conocemos conocer is "to know" as in "to be acquainted or familiar with", as opposed to "saber" which is used for facts and how-to's if you are referring to a song, book, or person you are familiar with you would use the word conocer to say that you "know" i.e. are familiar with it ex: conozco esta canción = I know this song/ I am familiar with this song note: you cannot "saber" a person (that treats a person like a fact) you you can conocer a person (to be acquainted with, know of, or have met that person)

Classical Castilian/Metropolitan Spanish includes an additional conjugation, in everyday use, but one that is not seen in South American Spanish. It is the plural equivalent of the singular 'tu' form and perhaps as a result you see the sequence in which the forms are listed in grammars as quite different in European textbooks: nosotros/as sabemos VOSOTROS/AS SABÉIS ellos/ellas/uds saben nosotros/as conocemos VOSOTROS/AS CONOCÉIS ellos/ellas/uds conocen Also the meaning of conocer changes a little depending on the tense in which it is employed.
