it states to add (7x^2 + -4) + (-x^2 + x - 6) this is what i came up with is it correct? 6x^4 + 2x^2 - 10

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

dont you mean 6x^2?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

7x^2 + -x^2 -> 6x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then i had it right the first time, i changed it i orignally had 6x^2 + 2x^2 - 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

and where did you get 2x^2 from?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did i plug in something that wasnt supposed to be there?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

7x^2 + -4 + -x^2 + x -6 -> (7x^2 + -x^2) + x + (-4 + -6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then the answer is 6x^2 + 2x – 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not ==> -7x2 + x + 10

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

where'd you get 2x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now i am confused... it was from yours i added the -4 and -6 i messed this one up didnt I ?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

why 2x? there's only one x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so lets go back... i should have kept my original answer 6x^2 + 2x^2 - 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes there is 2x^2

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

look at this again.. (7x^2 + -x^2) + x + (-4 + -6) there's only one x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok yes

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

so the answer should be...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i c where you put like terms that is where i messed up maybe?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6x^2 + 2x^2 - 10
