The coordinates of an ordered pair have opposite signs. In which quadrant(s) must the ordered pair lie? Explain.

2nd or 4th

Can you explain it please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Quadrant 1(The one you start with): BOTH the X-axis and the Y-axis are positive Quadrant 2(Left of Quadrant 1): The X-axis is now negative hence the numbers are going backwards, but the Y-axis is still positive since its still going up. Quadrant 3(Under Quadrant 2): Here both X and Y-axis are negative. Quadrant 4( Right under Quadrant 1): Here the Y-axis is Negative since its going down and the X- axis is positive since it is still going to the right.
