Find the volume of a pyramid which has a square base of 10 inches and a height of 24 inches.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The volume of a pyramid is the same as that of a triangle, B * H * 1/2. Just more complex. Since its a three dimensional figure, we will have to do a little bit more.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because the base of this pyramid is squared, we must find the square root (oh nvm, we dont.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did you come up with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Um, Ok, any how, we will do this step by step, so firts we have a sqaure base of ten, so our base is given, and now we multiply by the height.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, I came up with 120. in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea 24*10/1.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm mmhhh. Any more help? multiplying by 0.5 (one half) is the same as dividing by 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, 1 third, sorry, my bad...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, we actually multiply by 1 third! which by the way we can do by 12 * 24 * 0.3. Actually multiplying those will give us the answer, which is 72.0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

86.3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Peace! hoped I helped!

thanks!
