For which value of x does the graph of y = 3x^2 − 2x − 5 cross the x-axis?

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

when it's crossing the x-axis, the 'y' value, or the ordinate becomes zero. So basically, just find the roots or zeroes of the quadratic given.
