A wooden plate is shaped as a pentagon. The measure of one angle is 60°. The remaining interior angles are obtuse and of equal measure. What is the measure of each obtuse angle in the pentagon?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so there are 540 degrees in a pentagon. We can set up a equation to show this. 60 + 5x = 540 5x = 480 x=96 Therefore, the measure of each obtuse angle is 96 degrees.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get 540, 180*5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The equation for degree measure in any polygon, is 180 * (n-2). Since a pentagon, or 5 - gon, has five sides, we have (5-2) * 180 or 3 *180 = 540
