Do you mean the sum of two numbers is 10 less than 4 times the greater number?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

greater number will be x+19 If smaller number is x

4(x+19)-10=x Do you see why this is so? x+19 is the greater number, so I multiplied it by 4 and then took away 10 since that's what the problem says.
