Geometry question need help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HERE IS THE PROBLEM

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You just need to use Pythagorean theorem. a^2 + b^2 = c^2 a and b are sides of the triangle and c is the hypotenuse. since your two sides are the same it becomes x^2 + x^2 = 52^2 Now solve for x.

OpenStudy (theviper):

\[a^2+b^2=c^2\] by pythagoras theorem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what does x =

OpenStudy (theviper):

Therefore,\[x^2+x^2=52mm\]

OpenStudy (theviper):

now,\[2x^2=52mm\]

OpenStudy (theviper):

now,\[x^2=52/2\] i.e.,\[x^2=26\] therefore,\[x=\sqrt{26}\]

OpenStudy (theviper):

Is that clear? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes very much thanks

OpenStudy (theviper):

You are welcome:)
