OpenStudy (apoorvk):

Silk route? I don't remember much :( Your NCERT has everything!!!! Still, it was a global trade-route, where not only exchange of goods took place, but also cultural, technological and religious exchanges of ideas and customs took place. Sometimes even diseases got transmitted through this trade route. It was a major reason behind the development of China, Arabia, India etc. Also, most importantly, it led to the inter-mixing of religious and artistic customs, and their transmission through the route. Don't bank on me completely, though, am not an expert on this -.-
