what is the use of gaussian surface ?
i have no guess plz tell me :(
Gaussian surface allows easy calculation of electric flux (if field has simple topology). Applying Gauss's law will then lead to value of electric field at desired point.
ok den if i write this much i will get the marks :??
I think so, but I do not know what your teacher really expects. Even in science, we do not share a 100% common culture when it comes to definitions.
Your question sounds to me like 3 Idiots' "What is a machine?"
well it dosent mean but marks for this is 3marks so i m thinking its not enough :( my writing is also v.small the statement u told i ll write it in only in 2 lines :(
need more points so atleast i ll remember any three dat time..
Look it up in your Indian books. This is where you will find what they want.
no matter u can tell me acc. to ur book too i saw my books too but not able to find anything related to this qn i mean anypoints which i can write in this :(
Gaussian surface is a CLOSED surface, with some parts parallel to the field lines, and others perpendicular, to allow easy calculation of electric flux, eventually leading to magnitude of electric field at any point in space. This is possible if the charge distribution remains invariant under certain geometrical transformations such as rotation about an axis or translation along an axis. The charge distribution must also have enough symmetries, for the field lines to behave simply. Shape of the Gaussian surface will match the topology of the field. eg : sphere with spherical charge distribution; cylinder with cylindrical charge distribution; box with plane distributions.
thnx :)
