Read the following passage from "The Pit and the Pendulum." "I had swooned; but still will not say that all of consciousness was lost. What of it there remained I will not attempt to define, or even to describe; yet all was not lost. In the deepest slumber—no! In delirium—no! In a swoon—no! In death —no! even in the grave all is not lost. Else there is no immortality for man." What language convention has the author used with the underlined words to create suspense and tension? A. Absolute phrases B. Infinitive phrases C. Fragments D. Series of adjectives I think its B?
What words are underlined?
ohh sorry it didn't show up, the words underlined are to define and to describe
:/ I am not sure, sorry.
its cool, the reason I think its B is because a infinitive phrase is the infinitive form of a verb that is usually preceded by "to" (e.g., to run, to dance, to think).
I think that would be your best bet then. :P Seems like a logical response. :D
Okay! and thanks for trying, i'm gonna be posting more so look out for them :)
Ok, I am actually taking a segment exam.. so I can't be very active.
