I am trying to graph an equation. the equation is -2x+5y=20
Ok so lets rearrange this equation. It can be rewritten as: y = 2/5x+4 Next, we know that a line is determined by two points. Thus, if we find the x and y intercept of this line, we can draw a line through these points. The x intercept in this case is -10,0 and the y intercept is 0,4. Draw a line through these two points and you have your line.
you just need 2 point and connect it as a line let x=0 then 5y=20,y=4 that is (0,4) let y=0 x=-10 that is (-10,0) connect (-10,0) and (0,4) is your line
just use the intercepts let y = 0 and solve for x.. this will be the x-intercept -2x = 20 x = -10 let x = 0 to find the y=intercept 5y = 20 y = 4 plot the points (-10, 0) and ( 0 , 4) and then draw a line through both points
Thank you very much.
